Replacing a missing tooth? You’re in good hands.
Dental implants are a permanent and natural-looking replacement for missing or extracted teeth. Usually made of titanium, a dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and provides a strong foundation for one or more replacement teeth. After your implant has healed a natural-looking crown can be placed to fully restore the function of your lost tooth.
Why Dental Implants?
When both the root and the tooth are damaged the best permanent replacement option is a dental implant. Dental implants can support a single crown, a bridge or even a full-arch denture. We will wait until you are fully recovered from your dental implant placement before placing the crown as a final touch. With care, dental implants typically take 3 to 6 months from start to finish.
So how does the dental implant procedure work?
- Assessing your oral health
Before anything else, we will first examine your mouth and teeth to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. Candidates must have healthy gums and must be old enough that their jawbone has stopped growing. Your jawbone must also be healthy and robust enough to support an implant. If you don’t think you’re a candidate, don’t worry. We will come up with a plan to improve your overall oral health or provide you with solutions which are better suited for you.
- Placing the Implant
We use top of the line tools and techniques to complete this procedure as quickly, effectively, and as gently as possible. Nitrous Oxide and sedation are administered for your relaxation and comfort. You will be sent him with aftercare instructions to help you recover as comfortably and quickly as possible. Over the next 3 to 6 months, your jawbone will heal and become fused to the implant.
- Restorative Phase
Once you’ve completely healed you’ll undergo a second much less invasive procedure. A crown, bridge or denture made to feel and look like your natural teeth will be attached to your implant. We’ll make any final touches while you’re in the chair and you’ll leave with a fully complete, comfortable and beautiful restoration.
