Dr. Ahmed Ameen Al-Obaidi

General and Cosmetic Dentist
Dr. Ahmed Ameen Al-Obaidi is a general and cosmetic dentist at Sky Dental Centre in Thunder Bay, and he has cared for Thunder Bay families for more than 14 years. With close to 30 years in dentistry and a focus on dental implants and clear aligners, he makes sure every patient understands their options and feels comfortable before any treatment begins.
Training and credentials
Dr. Ameen earned his bachelor’s degree in dental surgery in 1997 and spent his early career providing care to underserved communities in North Africa. Advanced oral surgery training in Scotland followed, where he earned his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. In 2018, he became a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He completed his Canadian board examinations at the University of Western Ontario and trained further in the United States to become a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. In October 2026, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Teaching and leadership
Dr. Ameen founded and leads High-Tech Dental Seminars, which trains dentists in implant surgery and clear aligners in Canada and internationally, through the Canada Implant Residency and six-day international implant programs on live patients. He speaks on full-arch surgery across Canada, Mexico and the United States, and is an annual speaker for the Ontario Dental Association.

Sky Dental Centre is the sister practice to Redwood Dental, which Dr. Ameen has owned here in Thunder Bay for more than 14 years. He also leads Tomken Dental in Mississauga and Barton Dental in Hamilton.

Dr. Ameen’s work has taken him across four continents. He is a proud father of four, and in his spare time he enjoys soccer, swimming and travel. He speaks English and Arabic.

Outside of work, Catriona loves spending quality time with her teens, exploring the outdoors and making memories through travel.
